A few years later

Several years after the release of "Walk With a Lion"(IGLOO - IGL099), after being elected"Shock of the Year"in 1994 by Jazzman magazine ,yet still resolutely European in his approach, Serge Lazarevitch has brought two Swiss (Maurice Magnoni and Matthieu Michel), a Frenchman (Joël Allouche) and a Belgian (Philippe Aerts) for his fourth Igloo album.

These five musicians with wide backgrounds came together around new Lazarevitch compositions to share in a musical adventure and try to combine modernism, elegance and charm. Totally freed from his early influences (Ornette Coleman, Wayne Shorter, Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell, Keith Jarrett...), Lazarevitch has assembled an album that is totally contemporary. A feeling for architecture can be felt, in the way improvisation is integrated into form. The compositions clearly reflect the musicians who play them, an aspect the American recognise as European.
