Grégoire Tirtiaux is one of those musicians for whom music does not stop at one style or genre, but is more like a place where things meet and a means of communicating beyond language and differences. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to let his saxophones sing on Arabic, gypsy, improvised, West African, Indian, meditative, trance and Jazz music. The many projects in which he participates as a sideman or leader go from solo to big bands, somewhere between composing and improvisation. Always on the look-out for unusual sounds – both modern and steeped in tradition – he strives to play music of today with deep roots, and that talks to the soul.
