Sam Gerstmans

Born on 1978, Samuel comes from musicians' family. He begins the violin at the age of 6 . He is studying, in an Academy, violin, trumpet, chamber music, instrumental group and history of music. He goes out at the age of 17 years with a medal in violin and other one in chamber music, instrumental group and history of music. Then he begins to play the electric bass. At the age of 19, he is interested in  Jazz and registers in the Jazz studio of Antwerp where he has been teached by Ben Sluis, Low Coymans, Joe Higham...

In 1998, he registers in the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he acquires his 1st price on electric bass (in June 2001), then he registers again but for the double bass (he is teached by Jean-Louis Rassinfosse).

Since, he plays in several bands with musicians such as: Steve Houben, Jacques Pirotton, Ivan Paduart, Felix Sim- taine, Michel Herr, Bert Joris, Greg Houben, Pascal Mohy, Quentin Liégeois, ... He also participates in groups of Brazilian music and in theatricals plays as: "The Wild Party", "If it is sung it is lost", "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Peter Pan",...
