
The adventure kicked off in 1992, at a concert with Richard Galliano organised by the jazz programmer and radio host Philippe Baron. This first contact with the remarkable accordionist/composer led to a series of other concerts in Belgium. Galliano also recorded three tracks on the album “Illusions Sensorielles” (IGL101) for Igloo and later “Folies Douces” (IGL115) for the same label.

In 2003 Jean-Paul Dessy (conductor of the Ensemble Musiques Nouvelles) suggested that he try the experience again, but this time with strings. Having written very little for strings, Paduart also commissioned three arrangements from Michel Herr, a colleague and friend of 20 years for whom he has enormous respect. “Douce Illusions”, as the name implies, follows this journey using the string to highlight the dream-like aspect of Paduart’s compositions. Three new tracks are added to those that are re-arranged. To enter the world of “Douce Illusions”, it is essential to close your eyes and let the images flow.
