
First, imagine music written for a harpsichord and tuba. Then add musicians looking for new adventures in sound. The music of Michel Massot grew progressively from these roots. Rather like the images of a kaleidoscope, the personalities of the various musicians can be heard in little phrases and sounds, which are then transformed and multiplied into new shapes.

Although the compositions are highly coded, they leave plenty of room for “improvisation” – or rather “transformations” in which the various musical backgrounds meet. As for defining the language used by Bathyscape, the listener can call it “jazz-ba-rock” or anything else that springs to mind.
