Melodic and luminous jazz, imbued with humor and poetry, joyfully navigating between introspection and virtuosity. With folk/Americana accents with Lorenzo Di Maio’s electric guitar, acoustic sounds thanks to Boris Schmidt’s double bass, Sylvain Debaisieux’s saxophone and Daniel Jonkers’ drums, led by Martin Salemi on piano and compositions, all sprinkled with a few more modern touches in the subtle presence of keyboards and analog synths. On the piano but also on synths and keyboards, Martin Salemi explores new compositions in the modern jazz tradition ranging from Keith Jarrett to Aaron Parks. He also revisits some pieces from his three previous trio albums, which are given new colors and adopt other sounds. The music of his new quintet comes from jazz, and also borrows from song, folk and world. It has some nice surprises in store with hypnotic grooves, detailed melodies and cinematic atmospheres. A jazz full of tradition and yet very current!
