The two players, separated by two generations, offer us a repertoire that has been carefully selected from the encounters between Warland and some of the most talented jazzmen of the 20th century. Jean Warland has had a full life in the turbulent history of jazz, both big and small, through backstage events, friendships and encounters – from Kenny Clarke to Dizzy Gillespie, not forgetting Francis Boland and so many others. This is married with the ease and dexterity of Fabrice Alleman, who gives a new reading to it, is steeped in it and then himself expressing all the influences.

In parallel with the album’s release, Jean Warland is releasing a retrospective book, Bass Hits, published by Le Cri. An invitation to discover some precious memories with the greatest names in jazz.
