Le Grand Partir is an alternative jazz band based between Brussels and Lille. Formed around drummer Théo Lanau, a prolific and eclectic musician, the group navigates between genres, drawing inspiration from currents such as post-rock, free improvisation and no wave.
With Benjamin Sauzereau, Léo Rathier and Sam Comerford, Le Grand Partir delivers instrumental pieces that are unique to each interpretation. Their jazz is influenced by Gastr del Sol, Alasnoaxis, the Lounge Lizards, Horse Lords and Earth, and favours group sound textures and narration over traditional solos.
By blending biting riffs and sonic explorations, the group offers a poetic breath of fresh air to a music that aims to be free and adventurous.
