Janos Bruneel is born in Antwerp in 1983 into a family of musicians. He began studying music at the age of 6. He studied at the Academy of Anvers and then, at the Conservatory of the Hague with Heyn Van De Geyn and the Brussels Conservatory with Christophe Wallemme. He currently teaches at the Art Academy of Knokke. He also attended masterclasses with Avishai Cohen, Frans Van der Hoeven, Uli Glaszman, Furio di Castri, Philippe Aerts and Anders Jormin. He has won numerous awards and competitions and was awarded the SABAM Jazz Award in 2010 in the category “young talent”. He played on many stages: North Sea Jazz Festival, Motives For Jazz Festival, Jazz à Liege, Brussels Jazz Marathon, The Gaume Jazz Festival, The Eu ‘Ritmix Festival, The Flagestival. He has also played abroad: Canada, Holland, Switzerland, France, Germany, Czech Republic and Slovakia.
