Max Malkomes is a german bass player, but has lived in Belgium his whole life. He started playing electric bass at fifteen and got right away interested in jazz and improvisation. He begun his jazz studies in Antwerpen with Cédric Waterschoot for one year and then continued them in Brussels with Michel Hatzigeourgiou for four years. At the age of twenty-five, he learned auto-didactically the upright bass. In 2008, he created the group “Big Noise” with Raphaël D’Agostino and Laurent Vigneron as a trio. In 2011, they became a quartet with Johan Dupont joining them. Since then, they played their trademark “New Orleans Jazz” in venues and festivals of all kinds and still do. They recorded two Albums of old school jazz: Power Jazz New Orleans and New Orleans Function.
