Sax-player Jean-Pierre Gebler brought together the cream of Belgium’s young musicians of this time for this album. With Michel Herr (piano), Jacques Pirotton (guitar) and Philippe Aerts (double bass) he has created a unique drumless quartet to explore the depths of sound and generate added dynamics. The album, a homage to Lester Young, Dexter Gordon and Gerry Mulligan, is also a celebration of the ballad. Melancholic, tender – a landscape in light and shade.
