Following the line drawn in the first release, Le Murmure de l’Orient (vol II) takes an intimist approach to music, fed equally by Indian ragas, Arabian maqâms and Oriental cultures globally. It offers music that is peaceful, spiritual and meditational, evoking a certain quality of being by generating emotions that lead back to oneself.

The project’s originality lies in its evolution from the CD to the stage. Whereas the album offers intimate, peaceful encounters in the form of solos, duos and trios, bringing up to five musicians together on stage provokes music with an evolving dynamic. Over the exchanges, the calm, relaxing intros that are true to the spirit of the album gradually evolve into a dynamic performance.
Apart from the live show, the biggest challenge and most interesting aspect of the project lies in its cross-cultural nature. All the guests are major “classical” musicians in their countries and open to exchanges. Each of them opens himself to the music of the others without sacrificing his own culture.
« This is a very particular aspect of our times, all over the world, some musicians try to express both the uniqueness of their own culture and their need to be open to diversity. “Le Murmure de l’Orient” brings together those I had the chance to meet, and strives to express the right balance between those two trends. » (Manuel Hermia)
